Cannot open GUI: error with Qt platform #53

I am using a virtual environment through a remote Linux server. I can run the program through the command line, but trying to use the GUI to visualise an image comes up with the following error:

Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.

I am unsure if this is an issue with hippmapp3r, or the linux server itself. I can run other programs e.g. matlab through the command line and open a GUI, just not hippmapp3r.

Any advice on how to solve this?
