FEATURE EXTRACTION ON JPG image 1200X1600

Morning I'm trying to extract the features of a 2D jpg image, at the moment that I draw a ROI that is quite big as the image (1200x1600) the features extraction takes very long. I would like to ask if the problem is for the high resolution of jpg image compered to the TC or MRI ones or there is some configuration of features extraction to solve the problem? Another thing that make me think that the problem is led to the image dimension is that when I resize the image around 500x500 the features extraction is faster, takes 40-50 sec.
