sort/filter model by sd branch (1.5 / SDXL ... ) ?

I wonder why this is not a feature in the models list, to search or filter 1.5 vs SDXL models. Most of the SDXL model creators use XL in their names, so that helps, but not all do it. It would be helpful to be able to filter this way.

@w-e-w not all XL models have XL in the name.. And I did not want to change the models name, because I feared civitai helper would not recognise it anymore after that.

yeah of course not all xl models have xl in filename but that's what you asked

model metadata retriever extensions are most likely either metadata or hash based
so file names should not matter
but those types requires extensions an external database
meaning that it is not really an option for webui

however it is totally possible for webui to figure the type, but I believe that requires at least reading from the model once, after that the results can be cached
so it could be a feature in the future

Meanwhile you can make subfolders inside your models folder, make an SD 1.5 and an SDXL folder and move your checkpoints to their respective folder, enable the Show Dirs checkbox and then you can filter by folder name. This works for Loras, TI and hypernetworks too.

If you already have a bunch of checkpoints mixed together and want to tell them apart, 2 or 4GB checkpoints = SD 1.5 though some unpruned merges can be unnecessarily large like 5GB or even 12GB. 6 or 12 GB = SDXL checkpoints.

unfortunately, you can't actually tell by the size. I sorted them largest to smallest and my 8 largest ones (7-9gb/ea) were sd15.
That said, I found sorting by date modified did help me clean up the bulk of models released pre XL.

just use subfolders, this helps a lot, you can filter and in the quick choosing dropdown menu on the upper left you'll also see the directory!
