3D CNC machining is first introduced during Molding & Casting week. Here, the students document the CNC machining process, including machine settings & machine operation in detail. 3D CNC machining is again used to create the molds for Composites week. Do we still require the student to document the CNC machining process in detail, similar to what he did during Molding & Casting week?

The student has already demonstrated that he is able to operate the CNC machine to mill 3D objects during Molding & Casting week. During Composites week, the focus should be on the design of his mold for Composites layup and the layup process, rather than documenting the CNC machining process.

Feedback from one of the global evaluators is that the student has to document the fabrication of his mold. In this case, the student included screenshots of his mold designed in Fusion 360, the machined mold and the composites layup process, as well as documenting the steps in composite layup. Shouldn't this be sufficient, or do we still require our student to document in detail how the mold was machined? In that case, why not also document the steps in designing the mold in the CAD software?
