Blocked because of default security settings in these browsers.

Test: chrome --disable-web-security --user-data-dir & works

Seems to be happening with current firefox as well, similar to https://support.mozilla.org/de/questions/1264280 .
Solution: Set privacy.file_unique_origin to false.
