Editor Freezes on Horizontal Scroll

I am on 1.215.0.0 on Win 10 Pro, when editing a file that has very wide lines (reaching beyond being visible on screen) once I touch the horizontal scroll bar CT freezes. I need then to use the Task Manager to kill it and reopen.
This issue started in a pre-1.215.0.0 version but unsure in which anymore.

• Can you post here (as a zip file) the example file, so that I open this file, do the horz-scroll, and see the freeze?
• do you see it on clean app (no additional plugins/settings)?

I tested on such file:

tested on this file - https://www.learningcontainer.com/sample-text-file/, 2mb text file - "sample-2mb-text-file.txt"
checked on my Win11 and also on Win10… no problems here
verified on my configuration + on clean setup (1.215, and 1.214.7)
horizontal scroll bar works fine, and no freeze, or something suspicious

Thanks for checking... maybe it is false report. I dont recall that we had changes in scrollbar code in last times.

question for @ArthurZ : change of scrollbar to OS-themed scrollbar affects it?

No I do not have it set to non-defaults. With respect to the freeze, it happened a few more times even without me touching the vertical scroll bar, but then it is no longer happening. Go figure.

Just chiming in to say that it happened today again in ver .217. I pasted some long text (multiple lines) and wanted to scroll right. CT froze. I killed the session using the Task Manager.
What is interestingly different this time is that after the freeze CT would not start.
I can see it in the task manager at 0 CPU or so with a little memory consumed, but the UI would not show up. I can start multiple copies of,
So far it looks like I need to reboot to use CT again.

A guess- you pasted into e.g. JS document and JS LSP server freezed?

Do you see freeze on clean Cud?

An idea what you can do to help. Its hard.

Install FPC and lazarus IDE via fpcUpDeluxe - 2 clicks
Install cud sources
Run cud from IDE with debugging
Reproduce freeze
Press Pause button on IDE toolbar and see which part of code is running, using "Call stack" IDE Window

Need to be able to repro the freeze, heh the debugging is so hard

Also: if you see file cudatext.error (near cudatext.exe), post it here. this file is created on parser-thread errors.

Rebooted and after that only saw the posting about cudatext.error which was not found.
It was plain text on paste, That was SQL code for which I enabled MySQL Lexer.

I guess rebooting is not needed, it must be left process of Cud running, so new Cud instance sees old instance and "ui_one_instance":true stops 2nd instance.

try to 'solve' it (ie workaround it) by changing of that option: "scrollbar_themed".
