Hi I have been experimenting with linux-wallpaperengine along with other background changers. after killing linux-wallpaperengine if I try to use something like feh to set a simple image per say ie get the error
X connection to :0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

This might be a dumb question but is there any way to stop linux-wallpaper engine without killing the X connection? since the only solution i have found so far is to completely restart the display manager and I would prefer not to do that if possible.

Thanks for your help ahead of time.

@digitaltapestryposters when you say you kill the app, what exact command or action are you running? Something like kill -9 $PID?

What desktop environment/window manager are you using?

When you run this app, are you:

  • running it manually after the system boots to the desktop
  • running it automatically via your .xinitrc
  • running it automatically via your DE/WM's config file
  • running it in some other way entirely
