The Appsterdam HQ furniture, a simple matter which has turned into a complicated one.

Background:

Cabinets were donated to us by New Lemurs at the end of August. They were kind enough to move everything over for us, including all the other stuff that was located at BounceSpace (tshirts, supplies, books, etc.). A couple weeks later, A Lab said the look of the cabinets didn't match with A Lab's style and asked if we could come up with another solution. They understand we don't have much of a budget for furniture, so they allowed us to keep the cabinets for a while. At the same time, BounceSpace accused New Lemurs of stealing the cabinets and sent them an invoice for €500 (much more than the cabinets are worth, I'm sure).

Yesterday, for the grand opening of A Lab, we moved the old cabinets to a closed wing and replaced them with hand-made furniture from a duo called Tijgerhout. They look great but 1) they don't provide proper storage for things like dishes, and 2) they're only on loan to us when Tijgerhout doesn't take them out to market.

So I propose that we just:

  1. get new furniture from Ikea, such as this Expedit bookcase with inserts and perhaps a kitchen cart to go next to the refrigerator.
  2. keep the old cabinets in the old wing until BounceSpace and New Lemurs figure out what's going on.

Hi Judy,

I have one of these Ikea Antonius cases that I might not use anymore in the very near future, would that work as a kitchen cart?

Marga.

  1. give the cabinets back to BounceSpace, which would require Martinus to hire a van, or for me to coordinate with a kind Appsterdammer with a large vehicle.
  2. get new furniture from Ikea, such as this Expedit bookcase with inserts and perhaps a kitchen cart to go next to the refrigerator.

Yes, I might even have two of those, have to look in my attic. They have wheels and a shelve on top (although the shelve / wheels can be removed if preferred)

Those might be nice to put in the closet. Thanks for looking, @whakkee!

@mmeiborg: Updated the proposed solutions. Do we have it in our budget to get new furniture?

I see individual elements... How many of each or: what is the total?

Expedit bookcases are also available on Marktplaats, sometimes for less than half the price. Marktplaats recently added a delivery option, might be worthwhile to check it out.

I'll have a chat with A Lab tomorrow, als bringing in our own stuff seems to bring style mismatch risks. I'll let you know.

For the rest I only need to know a number and then I can see if we can afford it.

Depending on A Lab's approval:

1 Expedit 5x5 open kast = €119
(or 1 Expedit 4x4 open kast = €79.95)
1 Expedit 2x4 open kast = €49.95
5 Expedit insets @ €20 each = €100
1 Udden roltafel = €59.95

Total = €285.85 tot €328.90 incl BTW

Anne is looking for available boekenkasten for us as well, so we'll see what he comes up with first.

Tijgerhout is taking their nice boekenkasten tomorrow (Friday). Anne said he will move in some extra shelves from the basement. They're industrial-looking, similar to this. Hoping to get them in by next week, before we go to Berlin.
