Could you try to merge pfsense/FreeBSD-src#56 into your branch and confirm if it works?

(I haven't tested it, but it feel like the PR is related to your compilation error)

indeed there was a mistake in the guidelines, thanks for pointing it out.

Fyi, you didn't apply the patch correctly in builder_common.sh (you are missing at least this line). You should probably have a look on how to use git apply / git am.
