Blank page on closing the application in mobile browser

Minimal steps to reproduce

This behaviour is observed when USE_AUTHENTICATION is set to true
Login to the app service using Safari on a mobile device
Logout and close Safari, without closing the tab
On re-opening the browser, there is a blank page rather than the home page of the application with Login button. The URL seems to point to the app service.

Any log messages given by the failure

Expected/desired behavior

After logout, the application should load the home page with Login button.
