MPU-401 emulation with a software synth fallback

As the title says.

MPU-401 emulation would be cool. However, many computers do not have working serial/parallel ports and many people lack the ability to acquire the necessary hardware to make MPU-401 passthrough to serial port actually work. And not everyone is fond of OPL3. So a MIDI-compatible software synthesizer fallback would also be nice.
