Stephen put together a sticker set for Bitcoin Miami. How about we create a Figma community file and open it up to anyone to submit more sticker ideas? We could then regularly grab a few and post stickers for conferences. They could also be turned into digital sticker packs for Slack, Telegram, etc.

ACK from me, great idea

The stickers I sent off to press are all laid out in Illustrator. My Figma file was just a mockup to experiment with ideas. Happy to share my Illustrator files as open source, but I don't really like the idea of turning it into a Figma file. Figma is not a good print tool, IMO.

What makes Figma bad for print? Lack of color management?

Lack of color management (specifically lack of CMYK). Also, there's no way to define physical sizes like centimeters or inches (choosing one of the "paper" formats from the frame selection is a cute approximation).

Here is the AI package for my sticker set.

Totally understand the concerns. Still thinking that a Figma-first approach might be helpful if we want people to easily contribute and use them online. We could occasionally go in and pick a few and turn them into ready-for-print Illustrator files. Also depends on the design, as Illustrator is much more powerful in terms of visual effects than Figma. Suppose that leaves us with three categories:

  • Source files in any format (PenPot, Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop...) for editing
  • Ready-for-print files (probably PDF)
  • Figma community file that serves as an index and go-to-place for contribution

How does that sound?

Adding them on Giphy could also be fun, especially if we can animate them.

My AI file already satisfies your first 2 bullet points. Would you like to see it converted back into Figma for the third bullet point? It will take some finagling, but I can do that.

No worries. Could be just a PNG also. I just fear that things in an AI file will basically be invisible/inaccessible to most people because it's paid software.

I just set up a Figma community file for the stickers. You can check it out here.

PR for this addition to the site.

I asked trusty Claude to come up with some clever stickers and it did deliver. Then I quickly laid them out with these somewhat jarring colors that nonetheless will likely stand out in the conference sticker crowd. How about something along these lines?

Looks dope. The Bitpocalypse one sounds a little dark.

Erik printed a bunch and brought them to Baltic Honeybadger.
