I noticed that Waterfox Classic, latest 2022.11, is showing that a new version via full 'fresh' copy install is available within the drop-down hamburger menu.

But the only thing I notice is the latest G6.0 released on Sept 19 which is not the Waterfox Classic version.

It keeps popping up for miliseconds, saying it failed to download and I have to do it manually, I tried to download and install the latest but yeah, it is the one I already have. A shame where this proud browser has fallen to... :(

Likely related: The certificate for https://aus.waterfox.net/ expired a few days ago.
Not After: Saturday, September 23, 2023, 11:59:59 PM GMT

(I've noticed this in the browser console.)

The certificate expired on Saturday, September 23, 2023, 19:59. The current time is Thursday, September 28, 2023, 12:44.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_EXPIRED_CERTIFICATE

Possible workaround - I went to the aus.waterfox.. link, got the expected certificate error but confirmed an exception. After restarting, so far the message hasn't reappeared.

I have disabled update checks and it has stopped happening. Simpler.

It would be if updates will come, but Classic is EOL. I think better would be to migrate to Pale Moon or Basilisk if you want to be safe 😄.
