How should I be compiling the CPP_EXAMPLES?

When I run "make cpp_test.prog" in the CPP_EXAMPLES directory I get this error:

Adding the -lstdc++ flag to the # Libraries to link with standard executables and # Libraries to link with small executable in the Makefile seems to fix the compilation issue but after the program is uploaded nothing prints to the terminal when using the icestick
