Make file explorer adjustable

It is very helpful to be able to see most if not all of the filename without scrolling and some of the file names that the scientists use are very long. We should add a way to widen the file explorer so that a long filename can be seen without scrolling to the right.

For example: A test file I was given had a 122 character long name, and this is relatively typical
