One user reported RetopoFlow crashing (not Blender though) while auto-saving when very high poly meshes are present in the scene. Here's what he wrote:

To answer your questions:

The crash doesn’t occur in the default file, but it does when high-polygon models are present.
It crashes even when all other add-ons are disabled after a factory reset of Blender.
I am using Windows 11.
My Blender version is 4.2.2.
My RetopoFlow version is 3.4.4.
Additionally, I’ve noticed that the crash often happens when autosave is triggered. I also see a warning box in the top RetopoFlow toolbar showing a “Performance Issue” with the message "Sources are too large (>1m)." However, rather than reducing the model size, I may just stick with Blender’s default retopology tools.

I hope this information helps with troubleshooting. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you for your support.

I have not yet been able to replicate this, so tagging it as such until I have time to check more thoroughly.

One interesting thing is that it actually triggered a note from RetopoFlow:
