Using just st_astext(the_geom) as the_geom does the trick for the CARTO view.

I'd suggest leaving this out since it doesn't look there is a hook to do that kind of customizations.

It's just a nice to have, no worries.

The solution is easy, I know, but it's quite sure that the way to implement it it's not straightforward
