Create Salt Formula #2
Comments
Hi Robin,
Thanks for feedback and sry for the delay, I'm currently on vacation. But I
have good news, if you are waiting for updates like
"ensure-check-mk-agent-installed", I have it already in schedule for
October. A State Module fo rCheck MK Site Management will be also released
this month. If you can use this stuff and integrate it to Salt Formular,
that would be great.

… Hi
I am working on deploying the Checkmk Agent on GNU/Linux systems with
Saltstack. For this I checked your presentation
<https://invidious.13ad.de/watch?v=WdBd7NnVvEA>. Very cool stuff :) You
called a Salt State ensure-check-mk-agent-installed in your demo. I
cannot find that state in this repo?
I would say more work in needed to fully cover the agent deployment use
case. But that is no accusation or demand from me in any way. I am already
quite happy that Checkmk is open and even active in supporting this.
The proper way to go forward with this is to make this repo a Salt Formula
<https://docs.saltstack.com/en/latest/topics/development/conventions/formulas.html>.
I have not yet reached the experience in Salt that I have with Ansible but
I am getting there. I would like to help with this Salt State.
When I checked,
https://gitlab.dwbn.org/salt-formulas/salt-check_mk_agent-formula
currently covers my use case best. I am in the process of reworking that
Formula (starting with SLES support and general improvements). I will also
check how salt-checkmk can help here.

hi robin, do you have a public repo for your work? |
@PhilippLemke Enjoy your vacation and thanks for your feedback. I just wanted to be sure that I don’t miss anything. @tobstone Not yet unfortunate. Hopefully next |
Sorry for the delay. I had to get permission to publish those changes along with other distractions. But I still need to rebase/cleanup onto your latest changes and test it again, but at least it is public already: https://github.com/ypid-geberit/salt-check_mk_agent-formula Right now I would like to deploy CEE using SaltStack. Do you have something I can start with? This time I can publish my changes right away :) |
