I was using it for a while, after which I tried to save a preset and reaper crashed
There isn't a preset file saved and whenever i try to put it in an FX chain it just freezes and crashes reaper
I tried deleting and downloading it again twice (currently 1.1.7), but it still does the same thing

Thanks for the bug report! If you're able to provide a bit more information that would be very helpful for tracking down the root cause:

  1. Diagnostic Info: this can be copied using an option in the plugin's settings menu (if you're not able to open it in Reaper, you could try it in another DAW, or use the Standalone app)
  2. Provide a log file from on of the crashing instances. Log file information can be found here
  3. Provide clearer steps for reproducing the issue. For example, are you using the VST3, AU, or LV2 plugin format? When you're saving a preset are you doing that from inside the plugin or from Reaper's plugin preset system?
  4. Are you building from source, or are you downloading the latest nightly builds?

1 So i tried with ardour, but it just freezes on the loading screen at "Discovering VST3 Plugins"
2 Not sure how to access ~/.config/ChowdhuryDSP/BYOD/Logs. I don't have a BYOD folder within the ChowrhuryDSP, just a presets folder.
3 With Reaper, whenever i try to add the plugin to an FX chain (either lv2 or clap) it freezes on the add plugin to fx chain window, then ubuntu "Reaper is not responding" and i can either force quit or wait. When i wait it just completely stops and I can't close the reaper tab without rebooting
4 To start with i was using source 1.0.1, had the problem after saving the preset, deleted the plugin, downloaded the latest nightly build and still had the same problem

Okay great, thanks for the extra info! I have a good idea of how to reproduce the issue, so I'll give it a try later today.

Out of curiosity, are you able to load the VST3 version of the plugin in Reaper? (I believe Reaper supports VST3 on Linux, but maybe I'm remembering wrong)

One other thing that might be interesting to test is to try deleting (or moving) the presets folder.
