Game freezes when the game window becomes unfocused

Bug description

The game stops progressing when running in the background. Issue present in both the chrome and steam version.

To reproduce

By minimizing the window on the steam version or switching to a different tab on the chrome version, the game will freeze after about 10 seconds. (The window/tab title stops updating)
