cernlib is no longer being developed nor supported (see https://cernlib.web.cern.ch/cernlib/), hence GEANT3 (part of cernlib) is no longer being developed nor supported. It is therefore desirable to make G3_DRAGON compatible with the GEANT3 Virtual Monte Carlo (vmc) package that is still being developed and supported as part of ROOT (download and install instructions here).
