Hey all!

I know a lot of people have been having issues with Paddy not being super reliable with automatic updating etc.

I've begun completely re-writing Paddy – it should be a lot more reliable; but also in some cases is also up to 200x faster!!! Yes 200 times faster.

Check out the Beta version now if you'd like.

It's still got quite a bit to go; but I'd love everyone's thoughts so far.
A lot more coming to beta soon – (Nested Symbols anyone? πŸ˜‰)

Checkout this overview video to see some of the key differences so far:

Looking great, Can't wait to try it out!

Is there going to still be a way to see the padding or alignment that's being applied in the title of the layers and groups? It'd be really cool if that was a global toggle. From my own experience, being able to see all the applied settings when you have a lot of nesting going on is really handy.

Thank you for all the hard work you've put into this, Paddy 1 has already been an awesome game changer for me and my projects.

Looking great! Very excited about nested symbols.

Will Paddy 2 inherit all values created on existing instances/ layers? I ask because we are using paddy in conjunction to Craft Library to control our pattern library for sketch files.

@aaronsampson β€” Yeah, that's the plan. It would be an option to turn on and off; so up to you if you want to include it in the layer name like now.

@jmenkeniaa β€” I've done a bunch of work to make sure Paddy 2 should be backwards compatible. So all those existing layers; where the properties are placed in the layer's name; should all work in Paddy 2 straight away. Have a play around with the beta, and let me know if it works for you or not.

@Raghav789 β€” haha! Thanks man.Really appreciate it :P

Nested symbols will be so much appreciated! <3
@DWilliames Have you tried yet to sync the projects with InVision or Zeplin to check if sizes are maintained during uploads?
Any thoughts when the new version will be released?

@pietrogregorini – So far it seems to sync with Zeplin fine. It will be when there's Nested Symbol support that there will be complexities. I'm in contact with the Zeplin folks to try and figure out a good way to approach it.

As far as timeline – tbh it has all taken longer than I expected; I will probably have the first version of Paddy 2 in a month or two; with the plan of a fast follow-on release for Nested symbol support.

I want to make sure when I release it; it will be stable. There's nothing worse than hearing stories of people who use a plugin like this; and accidentally ruin their entire Sketch documents and libraries 😢.
