Pro controller not working when plugged in

The orange light lights up showing that it's plugged in, it registers on gamepadtester, none of the imputs work. Installed as normal and all checks say that it's running. What's going on?? Can't find anything online. Lights blink as if it was bluetooth connecting.

I had to add my user to the input group. I think this is supposed to be handled by the udev rules joycond ships, but it didn't for some reason (see: #148).
