[Suggestion]: King Qol #411
Comments
So you would just not let someone play their desired role? |
Wait for a different King. The game is not going anywhere. I personally don't want to be in a forced relationship, and people should have that option to not be. |
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but King is literally the only role in the game that has a chance (If a Queen readies up) to be in a relationship... you can literally play anything else if you don't want to be forced into something you don't want, not going to ruin other people's fun just because you want to play the only role that has a chance to be in a relationship and suddenly gets forced into something you know might happen. Also, how about you wait for when someone doesn't play Queen? The game can wait. |
Walking back what I said earlier, because I wasn't sure what to respond with, without being a rude ass.
Addressed by point 3 in the op.
You miss the point. A player that wants to be Queenless probably has some head cannon for the character, therefore having a Queen ready up with me is going to diminish their experience on the fact I have no desire to do marriage rp. They might be looking for that kinda rp. I'm not, with the current King I'm rolling with. By not having the feature, their fun is going to be ruined from moment zero of the round if thats what they are seeking (I don't know what else a queen and king would do if not marriage rp/erp). |
I am personally all for number 1 and 2. I am a little skeptical on 3 but I can understand where it's coming from. Perhaps letting the queen readied up to choose a neighboring land where they're visiting from is the option there. |
"I do not want to play as someone in a forced relationship" mfers when they play the one historical role in the game that was almost always consistently married off for political reasons and not for love What kind of argument is that even? You play King, you may or may not have a Queen you're married to, that's what you expect when you ready as king. |
I vibe that we change the title of the name to Lord and Lady respectively, and Prince/Princess to Ward, even. Other than that I really dig these QoL. |

What is the suggestion?
Why is this suggestion good?
1 and 2 will speed things up for the king so they don't gotta like copy and paste laws from a text file or something, spamming the chat for everyone while they set their laws for the tenth time they played this king. It could also be seen as the laws being "established" so you don't have people freaking out when the king makes an odd law at round start. No, these have ALWAYS been the laws you have been following under this ruler.
3, My observation in the little over a week that I have been here, staff lean towards players having a lot of agency in how they want to roleplay. King, Queen and heirs are the only roles forced into a family. Giving the King the ability to start the round without a Queen would continue the trend.
