The following lines account for just over 50% of the execution time in EventSparseTensor::deserialize:

_open_datasets[IMAGE_META_DATASET].read(&(image_meta[0]),
*_data_types[IMAGE_META_DATASET],
image_meta_memspace, _open_dataspaces[IMAGE_META_DATASET]);

This was seen using NEXT NEW datasets in the double escape peak analysis.

The image meta object should not be so large, this hotspot is very odd. Should be investigated.
