It should be noted that users with Windows OS machines (without WSL) do not have access to r-base versions beyond v3.4.1 (the versions available for each OS is described here).
WSL appears to be necessary for WinOS users in order to create a Linux environment and have access to r-base v4.3.0 on conda-forge.
An additional note in this section telling WinOS users to set up WSL will help them reach the same conda environment.

Thank you for testing @andrewkcleeuc! I'll add a note to the installation instructions. Have you tried installing panpipes using an earlier r-base version available for WinOS machines (without WSL) by any chance?

I haven't tried installing panpipes with an earlier r-base version, since I was worried it wouldn't replicate the exact conda environment specified in the guide.
