How does clone API command work?

Hi,

I've got a 6000+ components SBoM. Imported it into a project. Later I cloned it to a new version.
Then I loaded the new version SBoM up. It contains round about 6.000 components too. Sometimes
I got a project containing 11.000 components, sometimes 9.000. Putting the new SBoM into a new
project will lead to the correct number of components.

What's the right way to use the clone API command?
