It sounds like you already had Nix installed at some point. If you used the upstream install scripts, you may want to follow their uninstall directions before continuing: https://nix.dev/manual/nix/latest/installation/uninstall.html#macos

Otherwise, you could set --nix-build-group-id 30000.
