Option to select different commander #2328

I have 4 different accounts across three platforms on PC, Frontier, Steam and EPIC.
I'm logging into them several times over a number of hours when I do play advancing each account and using the fleet carrier from the main one.
Currently EDMC doesn't track changes in Commander when logging in, and therefore doesn't know I've changed commander.
The result is, EDMC is no longer tracking my whereabouts and none of the 3rd party apps work either.

If it is supposed to trigger the commander change, maybe it should trigger another one on shutdown pending a restart of a commander.
I don't think it's doing this at the moment.

I'd like the option to select an either known/ learnt list or options to add accounts to the app.

At the moment I have to shutdown and restart the app every time I want to keep using the app.

Thanks for listening. o7

Hi, got a link for you. If you are running more than one instance of the game at the same time on the same PC, EDMC does not support this, but you can still do it by running the game AND another EDMC as a different user.

If you are only running one instance of the game at a time and EDMC is losing track of things, that could be a bug. Please fill out the bug report form that shows when you open an issue here, and attach the requested logs.

Yeh, so the game only allows one instance at a time, for all three platforms, so this could be the app losing track.
I'll do a bug report, and put up some logs as soon as I get back to the cockpit. Thanks.

Sure, but I'm not sure I understand your setup yet, and I don't think EDMC cares that much about the store? If you're running 3 copies of the game

  • at the same time
  • on the same PC
  • as the same Windows account

regardless of which stores, that's not something EDMC will easily handle, but it is something you can work around by running each game as 3 different users and run an EDMC for each game as the same different user.

So I started with the Frontier account, new running EDMC, and it picked up the commander profile fine.
after visiting outfitting and ships, exited the game completely.
restarted first EPIC account, and it immediately blanked out the commander and PG name before the game fully loaded.
Once loaded, new name and PG displayed, all good so far.
Shutdown the game instance and launched Steam, Logged in, started the game, nothing changed, no blanking out of the commander name.
Game loaded, still no change, old commander name in EDMC. Did the same thing, outfitting, ships and shutdown the game.
Went into EPIC again, chose second account, logged into game, EDMC still didn't blank or change from 2nd commander name. Ship name didn't change either, still 2nd commander ship name.
Now the Journal Files are all in the same folder, by default I can't change this.
I have all four journal files separate, all containing the commander name being loaded with the event 'Commander'
