  1. Add the time:calendar attribute "JULIAN" to the initial conditions (IC) file, open boundary conditions (obc) file and forcing files. Some of the MOM6 possible choices for the time:calendar attribute are "JULIAN", "GREGORIAN" and "NOLEAP"
  2. The temperature in the air temperature forcing file must be in Kelvin
  3. There are issues ("compute_qs: saturation vapor pressure table overflow") with the global version of the air temperature file (from MERRA). I reduced the domain to CCS (with the same dimensions as Kate's simulation) and I was able to go around this bump. I do not know what causes the problem in the global version of the file.
  4. The first timestamp in the obc file must start before or at the initialization time of the run. The same applies to the last time stamp, which needs to end at of after the model end time.

There should be JRA55-do files on your system somewhere. Ask Raf. It has temperature in Kelvin (had to teach ROMS to handle that). I recently downloaded version 1.3 of the JRA files and can send you the scripts (with sosie script for extrapolating into land).
