Do you think it would be a good idea to store the auth method separately from the handle, so we could re-use it across different handles? I feel like this makes sense, but I never saw a tool that does this
I think it does too. Now that Environments are a thing it would be much easier to implement that way. Just like the cookie engine works nowadays.
Just as cookies, it shouldn't be tracked either. But if we keep adding untracked files, it would be better to think of a 2.x to make it a pattern to have a ./secrets whenever it is needed for untracked files. Gitignore would be:
