I've tested this a few times - both fighting it alone and with other people - on a server and when one person registered in the boss fight dies the server crashes, although I can't seem to replicate it on a singleplayer world. The arena I'm using is flat and made out of mostly stone and dirt in a mountain biome without water nearby.
