wired IPv4 network for laptops and printers behind infodesk #110
Comments
Please document the issue nonetheless |
i am fairly sure the infodesk network was a dual stack network that also had ipv4 adresses saterday morning it was plugged into a defective switch that was the cause of the printer not getting an adress (or connection for that matter) .. relacing it with a good (cisco) swicth seems to have helped |
Infodesk should be dual-stacked, yes. Next year, we will have an actual numbering plan. |
The MAC address of the printer for the K infodesk is 9c:93:4e:6e:71:05 Could someone assign a static IP address to this machine and let me know which one that will be? I will update DNS accordingly. This should happen before Friday, as we will probably need a printer at some point during build-up. |
just thinking out loud but could we have the same DNS entry working for the printer both at the office and at FOSDEM? So we don't have to change any settings in our laptops? :) |
Just played it through in my head; you would not have as many advantages as
you think.

Assigned the printer ip 151.216.190.5 will document this on the new 2019 wiki page. Please adjust DNS name there if wanted. |
printers don't like the v6 network ...
But there is a bigger issue to be sorted with printing in general. (but thats out of this scope perhaps)
