It's fine if you slowly increment the numbers, but if you change them too quickly, it freezes the shell. When this happens, sometimes the shell recovers after about 10 seconds (with the new size/spacing updated), but sometimes it never recovers and you have to hard reboot.

The problem is it's very easy to accidently adjust the numbers too quickly. If you hold down the mouse on the +/- button for slightly too long, the number will start flying. Similarly if you adjust via the keyboard and hold the key for slightly too long.
