Hagai Bar-EL methodology of GTD

#howtodo #tasks #gtd #productivity

  • Avoid a huge amount of tasks in front of you, because it can be unproductive and intimidated to choose the right one
    • Let the software choose the right tasks to be done for you
    • Only a short list of tasks need to be visible for you
      • Tasks that are urgent based on context/tags/projects are the only you need to see
  • Tags can be used as the ==urgency points==
    • High > Medium > Low, with not priority > Low

    • Projects: Each project has prioritization depending on the time, so if some week I am working with in a project or need to prioritize a project I give more points to the tasks of this project.

    • Tags next get several points because are I explicitly manually I want to focus on

    • Tasks already started get extra points to account the cost of switching

    • Tasks scheduled to start or to be done soon, get many additional points

  • Filtering
    • Tasks that not need to be visible on that week or based on project prioritization
    • Tasks with dependency do not need to be visible
    • Tasks with start date in the future can be filtered
    • Tasks for different context from what I have been working, or certain circumstances not so important by now, need to be filtered
    • Tasks required to be trigger by something before it starts.
  • INbox receives anything you need to be done. [[3orp-in-list-on-gtd]]
    • Clear the memory and save resources for important things
    • Never return a task to inbox
  • How to break an abstract task
    • Define a small set of tasks to get start the project and to finish the project
    • By the middle, you are going to process set of tasks by set of tasks
  • Period review can be done weekly or monthly
    • 'One day maybe folder' is important because is a folder similar to ==project== but not so important
      • Some project can be turned into really project by the time/context
    • Use Tasksh to review tasks/projects, it shows the last time a task was reviewed
