Angular theme and angular theme builder

Looking at how the angular-theme is built and distributed, I can see the prebuilt-theme folder in there. That contains some minified styles:

My question is, is that really required/used? What's the purpose of that folder?
I tried building ffdc-admin-portal, dev-portal and fusion-store without that and none of them rely on that. I am asking because the custom theme builder does only that (create the minified files) and we can skip that if those are not needed.

Hi,

It is not required if you use SASS to setup your theme.
It's another way to provide themes similar to material prebuilt themes.
