A thought. Could we use Social media to try to contact Parishes who may have already transcribed their registers? Over the last few years a lot of parish websites have been created with transcriptions. They may not realise that they own the copyright to the registers and to their transcription and could make it Open Data. It would be a great help to get them known to the genealogy world if their transcription was made freely available researchers and that would include a link to their website, which other database do not do. We will do any conversion work. Nothing is need for them to do. ED
That sounds great, Eric - I have assigned Denise for her to talk over with the new FB person (we are recruiting in at the moment) to see how practical this is to do on 3 March - but if not a 'one day' activity, we could perhaps do over a longer period.
Open Data Day is Saturday 3rd March - see http://opendataday.org/ What could we do to celebrate Open Data Day?
