external package not working

Hi all,
first I'd like to say you are doing a fantastic job. I had running the old freetz version for a very long time and found this new release some days ago and immediately updated my box.
I'm just playing a bit now with the new version and have compiled an image with apache included. I marked apache as external package and have installed the new image and the external package. Than I checked the changes on the box and have found an issue.
On the box I have now a folder /etc/apache2. Within this folder I have some symlinks to .conf files pointing to the external folder with all the apache files but: the link to external is /mod/external/etc/... When I look under the /mod directory there is no external available. I guess it should be a symlink to external but during the make of the image it is not created.

Works for me.
The link is created depending on your configuration. Maybe not or wrong configured? You'll see it in the logs

Do you mean the log when the image is created? What configuration can I check to get the link created?

External does not work for me either. I have externalized rsync among other things.
Freetz-NG's rc.mod calls rc.external without parameters, but the externalized packages still don't work. But it seems that rc.external needs the "start" parameter.
I sshed into the box and called rc.external with "start" parameter:

After adding /etc/init.d/rc.external start as a workaround to rc.custom external works automatically after reboots.

It's a soft link:

Ok, symlink seems not to be working. After changing external from /var/media/ftp/uStor01/external to /var/media/ftp/USB-SanDisk3-2Gen1-01/external everything is ok. Many thanks for your help @fda77!

I dont know if it worked ever with a link. I quick checked the scripts but have no idea why it should fail, and i have no device to test currently.
In case you want to search by yourself, this could help (eg shows the "start" in udev):
