Gaffer UI Editor and Icons on Widgets

Hi,

Referencing my own thread from a few years ago, does gaffer now support adding icons to buttons or other widgets ootb? I see updates in some tickets but they are more related to icons in file path widget or built in nodes like catalogue (#3676) or menus (#1086), etc. I don't see any support in the UI Editor for users to add icons to widgets within gaffer (may be even some styling options for parameter names, color, etc.).

Do I still need to use the method outlined by Andrew in the linked thread? I'm essentially trying to create stand-alone apps using gaffer itself instead of building external ones with python and qt so any pointers are much appreciated!

Hi Sachin,
I don't think there's been any progress on adding icons out-of-the-box in the UI Editor. But the UIEditor does now allow you to register your own widget types and settings that you can apply to plugs via the UI :

Would that help at all? You'd need to write some code to configure it, but from there you'd be able to build apps with those features graphically. Alternatively, we'd be happy to chat about a contribution to improve the out-of-the-box capabilities.

Thank you John for pointing me to the UI Editor class. I’m not familiar with it but will look into it for customizing the widgets.
