If it's helpful, I created a plugin to generate backlinks. Instead of digging throuh the code in my template (linked above), you can use the plugin with your existing website. https://github.com/binyamin/eleventy-plugin-backlinks/

By the way, I'm trying to spread the word. I would prefer to maintain a plugin. 😀
