Yesterday the German Advisory Council on the Environment (Sachverständigenrat für Umweltfragen) published a statement that the German CO₂ budget for 1,5°C, 67% is used up by now. Source

Among other they recommend:

  • To no longer display residual budgets (Restbudgets), but instead to now display overrun budgets (Überschreitungsbudgets) (page 6).
  • To clearly distinguish measures by emission reduction, emission sinks (land) and emission removal (CDR) (page 7).
  • To allocate budgets on state and municipal level by applying the national reduction paths on state and municipal level (page 6 and 7).
