Hi I am currently maintaining the fork of the JPEG-LS HDF5 filter on Github, at https://github.com/antonysigma/jpegls-hdf5-filter .

I am wondering if we can create a git-submodule to replace the placeholder folder at https://github.com/HDFGroup/hdf5_plugins/tree/master/community/jpeg-ls .

Hello!

There is a jpeg-ls currently registered with us:
https://github.com/HDFGroup/hdf5_plugins/blob/master/docs/RegisteredFilterPlugins.md#jpeg-ls
The placeholder was meant for that.

You can register with us for another Filter ID and provide your filter info. We will create another place for it. Please see detail about registering. You can enter your info here, in this issue, or send an email to The HDFG Helpdesk at help at hdfgroup.org.

Understood. I am glad to know that the original authors are still reachable by the HDF5 Group. I am simply maintaining a fork of their original source code at Sourceforge, and to ensure exact binary matching compressed streams, so it does not constitute a new filter ID.

Let me know if the HDF5 Group has new policy on concepts like code mirror, and/or transition to new project owner(s).
