I think the STM App is a must (I don't work on my laptop without it activated), because: 1. It is very simple to use
2. fills a big gap in the organization of Apps/software in Windows 11
3. Unlike other Aps (some renowned ones like "Start11"), it is not intrusive to the OS.
However, I believe that there is still room for improvement in the App, particularly in the functionality that I will now describe!
I use STM essentially to organize the Apps/Software I have on my system, because Windows 11 is very limited in its organization.
In the "Issues" discussion category I placed a post with the title "Search Bar/Field Problems"
[https://github.com//issues/516] which, until now, has not received any feedback...
(possibly due to my fault, possibly because this issue has already been discussed, but I confess that I didn't find it in the search I carried out in the "forums"!)
The issue has to do with the fact that, in the STM search field, it is not possible to perform a recursive search in the Custom Folders and subfolders that we place in our Root directory (unless in the situation I described below, but which creates a mess).
There is a way to perform this recursive search, which is to include the "Root Directory" inSettings > Directories and choose the "Recursive" option.
But in this case, I could not include the system Paths that contain the links to the Apps ("C:\ProgramData...\StartMenu"(1) and "C:\Users"user"\AppData. ..\StartMenu"(2)) and, at the same time, only see "my Custom Folder tree"(3):
I would have to make see (1), (2) and (3) which would make navigating through folders "useless" due to the chaos it would generate!
As I demonstrate in Figs. which I include in my post mentioned above, I organized my STM in such a way as to:
i) be able to browse my Customised Folders (3), creating a Root Directory and
ii) being able to perform a search (in the search field) in Paths (1) and (2), without seeing them in the Folder Menu ("Show only as search result" option), to avoid the aforementioned mess.
...however, this way I cannot perform recursive search on my Custom Folders!
IDEA:
Therefore, I wonder if it will not be possible to implement, in STM, the RECURSIVE SEARCH also in Custom Folders (3) (without being dependent on the choices made for system folders (1) and (2))?
