The selected page/tab in navigation bar could be a bit more darker coz it doesn't standout too much.

Can you suggest a font and text-color that would suit the design ?

Try to have selected text in bold, that will differentiate it. If not then try Segoe UI Light for unselected text and Segoe UI Semibold for the selected text. Let the color be grey for unselected and black for selected.
