Ideally, to achieve higher robustness against noise, we would like to broaden the frequency spectrum of the stimulation sequence. This can be done by forcing more of a jitter (perhaps as a flag, since I don't know how to transparently quantify how broad the user might want the frequency spectrum spread). This seems of particular interest for detection/block designs, where we tend to have a dominant frequency.
