Citizen Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

IMS-Network is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that welcomes contributors from diverse backgrounds. We aim to create a friendly, safe, and welcoming space for everyone, irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religious beliefs (or lack thereof). This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for participant behavior and the steps for reporting unacceptable actions to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved in our community.

2. Open [Source/Culture/Tech] Citizenship

A vital aim of this Code of Conduct is to promote open citizenship in [source/culture/tech], encouraging participants to acknowledge the impact of their actions on our community. We believe in taking positive steps to counter inequality and abuses of power. Acknowledging and valuing efforts to make our community welcoming and inclusive is crucial.

3. Expected Behavior

We expect all community members to:

  • Engage authentically and actively, contributing positively to our community's health and longevity.
  • Practice respect and consideration in speech and actions.
  • Emphasize collaboration over conflict.
  • Avoid demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.
  • Be mindful of fellow participants and surroundings. Report any concerning behavior or unsafe situations to community leaders.

4. Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Violence or threats thereof, discriminatory language or actions.
  • Posting sexually explicit or violent material.
  • Doxing or threats to disclose personal information.
  • Personal insults or unwelcome attention of any kind.
  • Intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behaviors.

5. Weapons Policy

No weapons are permitted at any IMS-Network events or spaces. This includes firearms, explosives, large knives, and other items intended to cause harm. Possession of such items will result in immediate expulsion and a future ban without the item.

6. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior from any community member will not be tolerated. Failure to cease such behavior upon request will result in actions deemed appropriate by community organizers, including expulsion without refund for paid events.

7. Reporting Guidelines

To report unacceptable behavior or concerns:

Organizers are also prepared to assist with engaging local law enforcement and ensuring those experiencing distress feel safe.

8. Addressing Grievances

If you believe you've been falsely accused of violating this Code of Conduct, please get in touch with IMS-Network with your grievance for consideration according to our governing policies. Policy

9. Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all community participants in every venue, online and in-person, and extends to all one-on-one communications related to community business. It also covers unacceptable behavior occurring outside community activities when it adversely affects community safety and well-being.
