Smart detection of rectangles or groups #12

Hello,

Please see the attached video. I'm using v1.0 of Inkscape and the latest build from the site here.
I made a simple rectangle, pulled up the extension and changed the settings with no effect or errors in either "Live Preview" or when applying.

Convert your rectangle to a path.

Path->Object to Path

maybe some check would be neat:

  • check if one or more nodes in selection has no 'd' attribute. that would indicate that one or more elements are non-path objects like rectangle, arc, ellipsis
  • check for groups
  • check if selected items are unequal 1

Doh!
Yep, that was it.

I don't suppose there is an easy way to "pair" the effect to the mate of the edge? Or apply it to all edges of a a single part?

you can duplicate the path using CTLR + D, and then run extension again to create the slots on the same path again. then you have some pairing :-)
