Github features vs alternatives

Please let me elaborate why github features such as projects, discussions, pages, wiki and issues are rarely if at all used.

The following opinions are strongly influenced by the fact that the development is mostly done by organization members. If this changes in the future the current approach will be re-evaluated as other challenges and priorities may arise.

Projects

We track public todos, issues etc. in the public todo project easily to view by everyone. If you find something you would like to fix/implement feel free to pick it up.

Discussions

We believe discussions are the most useful tool for the organization which is why they will remain in use. However, despite this opinion there is still a good chance we will only use them sporadically.

Pages

Pages don't provide any significant benefit for this organization as most documentation is done in markdown files and further information get directly released to the organization website.

Wiki

The organization needs to provide a documentation for users, organization members and third party developers. This documentation needs to get at least partially integrated into the application and the organization website. It's much easier to do this by using standalone documentation compared to github opinionated formats.
