Versions of the test suite approved by the working group for conformance submissions are marked with tags signed by the specification editor (Ryan Pavlik, key fingerprint F029455EAB70F520FF4A03BD7F534CD56F00321E)
These are also shown in the OpenXR-CTS Releases page. Each release has relevant dates of votes and notices listed there.
Tagged commits on the approved
branch are approved releases, with the tip of the approved
branch being the latest approved release. The devel
branch is the in-progress code that will become a part of the next approved release upon a WG vote.
While it is encouraged to use the latest approved release for submissions, and to regularly test against the latest in-development code, the Khronos Group Conformance Process document https://www.khronos.org/files/conformance_procedures.pdf does allow for submissions against any version of the suite that has not yet been withdrawn, with a required notice period for intent to withdraw.
Releases will have their GitHub release pages updated if/once they are subject to such a vote and notice to withdraw. (Conventionally, the vote to approve a new version occurs simultaneously or shortly before a vote to withdraw the previous version.)
