Initiative (Required)

Hacktoberfest 2024 🎃

Is your proposal related to a problem? Please describe.

Many users find it challenging to generate meaningful captions for images, which can limit accessibility for visually impaired users and hinder content sharing on social media platforms. An efficient image captioning system can enhance user experience by providing relevant descriptions and improving accessibility.

Add any other context or screenshots about the proposal request here.

Proposed Solution
Develop an image captioning system that uses deep learning techniques to generate accurate and contextually relevant captions for images. The system should:

  • Leverage convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for feature extraction from images.
  • Utilize recurrent neural networks (RNNs) or transformer-based architectures to generate descriptive captions based on the extracted features.
  • Implement a user-friendly interface for uploading images and displaying generated captions.

Expected Outcomes

  • A functional image captioning system that can generate captions for various images.
  • Improved accessibility for visually impaired users.
  • A user-friendly interface for ease of use.
  • Documentation detailing the system's architecture and usage instructions.

Additional Notes
Consider using pre-trained models to improve efficiency.
Ensure the system is scalable and can handle a variety of image types and sizes.

I would like to contribute on this project under GSSoC'24 Extended and Hactoberfest 2024.
